This interactive presentation will center on the use of reflective practice within a pediatric primary care setting. In the field of pediatrics there has been a recent shift towards infant and early childhood mental health, placing a significant emphasis in early relationships and their impact. Reflective practice is a cornerstone of infant mental health and relationship-centered care, supported by substantial evidence highlighting the significance of parental reflective functioning and reflective supervision in many early childhood disciplines. Reflective practice is certainly an emerging concept for the medical field. In this presentation we will explore the application of reflective practice drawing from the recent developments in the field, case studies, personal experience and research. We will use an interactive workshop format for reflective discussions and case studies.
